T.J.'s JLUR

First Jeep I’ve owned, took delivery on 9/15/2018. It’s a 2018 JL Unlimited Rubicon in Billet Silver with the V6. Initial plans were to put on 35" tires and some armor and off-road easy trails maybe twice a year. That quicky changed after my first wheeling trip with BGORC at their 2018 annual event at A0AA.

Named the rig “Mark I” after my love of the superhero Ironman and being that it’s my first Jeep build.

Installed a club suggested stubby bumper. It’s the Stealth series from Road Armor. It’s pretty beefy and I love the look of the recessed winch. Baja Designs fog lights were plug n play so that was easy.

Installed a steel bumper over the weekend from Road Armor. Surprisingly the backup sensors still work even though they are a pain to install (just held in by rubber grommets, so they pop out easily). Still need to actually wire up the Baja Designs backup lights and maybe a license plate light…

There is a lack of good options for license plate relocation on the JL. Would like it on the spare but camera, 3rd brake light, and plate all in the same place is hard

Finally got rid of those big side steps that kept bashing in to my body. Replaced with LoD rock sliders

Had to copy John and got some Fusion4x4 steering bits. Bent the Yeti tie rod sleeve so went aluminum. Couldn’t have mismatching parts so just got the matching draglink as well (though the Yeti draglink’s clamps were pulling at hoses).

You gotta get some coveralls for when you wrench, makes the cold garage a little more comfortable
