Membership Guidelines 2023

Below are the guidelines regarding Club Membership.

Membership to the Black Goat Offroad Club is by invitation only.

This an offroad/wheeling club, Not a Jeep lifestyle club.

Our members should first have wheeled with the club, have shown an interest in engaging with the club and its members, be an active forum user. This will give us an idea of their personality and wheeling experience. This will demonstrate their ability to get along with other club members, safely wheel, wrench, and have fun. Members can also be members of other clubs, Novajeepers, etc.

Rules to obtain member status.

  1. Once a club member agrees to sponsor a new member, the sponsor should post the sponsorship on BGORC Members forum announcing their sponsorship of the new member supporting the reasons for their addition.
  2. Once sponsored, a second voting club member must second the nomination for their addition to the club. The prospect is responsible for filing all necessary paperwork within thirty days of being granted prospect status.

Requirements of Membership.

Complete the following tasks within nine months time.

  1. Attend one official trail ride* and one other official club event of your choice: a trail cleanup, official club picnic/party, wrenching parties, happy hours etc.
  2. Vehicle and Equipment Requirements.
    a. Prospect will make sure all of the required safety equipment in/on his/her vehicle as listed at the bottom of the registration form.
    b. Be capable off the road ("Trail only? rigs are exempted from this requirement)
    c. Have solid recovery points on the front and rear of the vehicle.
    d. Have properly installed seat belts for all passengers.
    e. Have a lifting jack capable of lifting the vehicle’s tire off the ground
    f. Have a spare tire compatible with the other four tires. (?Trail only? rigs are excluded from this requirement)
    g. Have a standard First Aid kit.
    h. Have an operational fire extinguisher
    i. Express a genuine desire to be an actual member of our clan.

After Membership obtained"

a. If granted member status, all applicable dues and paperwork must be submitted within thirty days. If not received within thirty days, the secretary will hunt you down and make you wish you were never born.

*Official Trail Rides - Defined
The following requirements must be met for a trail ride to be considered an Official BGORC trail ride:

  1. There must be two current BGORC members present on the trip, either driving or as passengers. These members must be in good standing, meaning dues paid, yearly waiver submitted, etc.
  2. The trip must have been announced on the BGORC Forum at least 24 hours in advance of the trip, or be a pre-planned trip that has been on the BGORC calendar for more than 24 hours.
  3. There must be a signup setup for the trip 24 hours in advance so that folks are able to sign up to attend the trip. The attendees, however, don’t need to actually sign up on the thread to ?count? as attending.
  4. There must be a total of 3 rigs on the trip and the trip has to be at least a half day trip (approximately 4 hours on the trail).
  5. Waivers and Medical Forms must have been filled out by non-members / guest and collected by the Trail Leader (as always required on trips).

Yes, some of us also belong to Nova Jeepers.
